How We List Restaurants

Last updated: 1 October 2026

This page explains where our information comes from and how each listing is put together, so you can judge how much to rely on it.

Sources

  • Venue locations, names, cuisine, hours and facilities – primarily OpenStreetMap, the open, community-maintained map of the world (© OpenStreetMap contributors, ODbL). We re-checked and cleaned this data on 1 October 2026.
  • Photos – where available, images the venue publishes on its own public pages (1,649 venues). Otherwise we show clearly labelled, freely licensed representative images from Wikimedia Commons.
  • City photos and facts – Wikipedia / Wikimedia Commons (credited on the image credits page).
  • Popularity – aggregated public search interest, used to order lists and our “best restaurants” guides.

What is written by us

Descriptions, FAQs, menu guides, price estimates and busy-time charts are generated by our editorial system from the facts above (for example the venue's address, neighbourhood, opening hours and nearby venues). Anything that is an estimate is labelled as one.

No pay-for-placement

Venues cannot pay to rank higher. Advertising is supplied by Google and is visually separated from listings.
